Amazon Prime sportscaster Al Michaels thrilled by NFL Thursday Night schedule

Al Michaels, the voice of Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football, is thrilled by the schedule handed to the broadcaster for the upcoming 2023 season.

The schedule came out this week and after a rocky start to its maiden season showing the NFL, with a schedule of games that routinely struggled to get off the ground.

But now, the broadcaster believes the schedule will help them elevate their coverage this time around.

His Amazon Prime team start the season in Week 2 with Vikings at Eagles followed by Giants playing 49ers in Week 3.

As the season goes on, Prime’s schedule gets better with the Bengals-Ravens in Week 11, Dolphins-Jets in Week 12, Cowboys-Seahawks in Week 13, Patriots-Steelers in Week 14 and Chargers-Raiders.

‘Love the way we come out of the gate,’ Michaels told Sports Illustrated. ‘Three ‘A’ grade games. Two Aaron Rodgers games. Baltimore-Cincinnati, another good one. League did us a solid.

‘I was raring to go the minute I saw the whole slate. Already thinking of story lines for each game, of which there is no shortage.’

Michaels also praised the move by the league to show a Black Friday game for the first time –  in the Jets against the Dolphins.

‘Great idea. Tens of millions recovering from the prior day’s tryptophan hangover will love it. Rodgers-Tua, a marquee matchup on any day,’ he said.

The NFL season starts on September 7, with Super Bowl holders Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Detroit Lions
