Eric Swalwell, the representative for California‘s 14th congressional district, was apparently threatened with death by former 49ers fullback Bruce Miller, according to a screenshot he shared to Twitter.
On Thursday afternoon, Swalwell received a menacing message from an account appearing to belong to Miller, who played six seasons in the NFL.
‘Almost time! Would you rather Guantanamo or just execution,’ the account wrote. ‘f***in traitor.’
The account has more than 54k Twitter followers – including the NFL.
But Swalwell was seemingly unfamiliar with the former 49er.
‘Who is this guy threatening to execute me? And how does he have so many followers?’ Swalwell captioned the screenshot of the message.

According to NBC Bay Area, Swalwell notified Capitol Police of the threat, and said ‘my family and my staff are deeply disturbed by the threat of execution… apparently by former 49er Bruce Miller.’
‘Threats of political violence are unacceptable.’
If Miller found himself arrested for his remarks, it would not be the first time he’s gotten in trouble with law enforcement.
He destroyed a woman’s cell phone in 2015 and pleaded no contest to a disturbing the peace misdemeanor, and was arrested for assault and elder abuse the following year.
Miller, a seventh-round draft pick in 2011, played with the 49ers from 2011-15, and returned for a stint with the Jaguars in 2020.
